I love seeing the law that passed in Utah, where the state is using Eminent Domain to reclaim federal land within the Utah state border. Utah is urging other western states to join them, including Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona. All of those states currently have over 70% of their land owned by the federal government. In Utah's case, there is no record of Utah giving any of it's land for federal use. According to the Constitution, the federal government needs state permission before taking control.
The state of Montana is looking to force a court battle in the Supreme Court, they will be challenging the commerce clause. Congress has used the commerce clause to justify just about every unconstitutional act they commit. They use the commerce clause to regulate goods grown entirely in one state, used for personal consumption for example. Montana is producing a firearm, completely from items mined/manufactured completely within the state borders, for sale only in Montana to Montana residents only. Under the constitution, the federal government would have no power in this area but we know better, we know they are going to set up to regulate and/or tax the weapon and that's when the lawsuit will begin. Way to go Montana!
Of course we can't forget about the 14 states that are filing suit against the enforcement and enactment of the legislation. Nevada recently joined in, against the advice of the liberal attorney general. Governor Gibbons is using a lawyer who volunteered, free of charge, to take on the case for the state of Nevada.
There are even a few states that are calling for an Article V convention. This is not a rewriting of the Constitution but a chance to amend and clarify points in the Constitution.
The federal government has lost touch with the people, they only look to increase their power and control at the expense of our liberties. Get to know your state legislature, they are going to be the only ones who can help get this country back on track. Can anyone name their state reps? Can anyone name their state districts? It's time to meet them, it's time to call on them to help right the ship, it's blown way off course.
