Populist, Progressive, Socialist, Communist or Liberal

Did you ever wonder what the difference between the parties? Everyone knows about the two major parties, Republican and Democrat but there are several other factions creeping around, most of them want to fundamentally change the United States of America. Throughout the history of the United States there has been several different political parties. Some rise and disappear into the history books, some evolve into another party and some even try to infect and takeover other political parties. Some political parties are so rejected by the American people that they appear to go away, but they really just hide in the shadows and wait to resurface with a new name and a slightly changed agenda.

Way back, in the beginning of our country the first two political parties were the Federalists and the Anti federalists. Theses were those that supported a strong central government and those that supported states rights. Those have evolved into the democrats and republicans, even if they went through name changes. Democrats and republican ideals were not the reason I am writing this blog, the reason is the other parties that have popped up throughout the history of the United States. Most of these parties worked against the American Ideal and have faded into the history books and resurfaced under another name but kept the anti American values they were built on. First, I wanted to start with the Communist Party, while the United States has had communist parties, they have never really had an impact on American politics. The Soviet Union would be our best look into Communism, while China is also under a communist government, they have a more free market than we do. The basis of the communist party is what is important to this blog. Communism is based on 10 ideas or planks. Karl Marx, who is credited with creating the idea of communism also is credited with the statement "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." In an effort to keep this post from getting to long, I'm going to stop here. The next post I will break down the communist ideology and following with the remaining political parties.
